A Return to Family Picnics...

This great book is about having fun in the sun. In Vancouver, winter is so long and wet, that it is nice to go outside and take time to relax and enjoy good food. The author, chef Russell Cronkhite, provides great and simple recipes, plus the photography is really beautiful (some watermelon on the cover) and evocative of good times.
Why am I telling you about this book? Because of the recipe for the old fashion ice cream soda, or as my kids call it: a float!

What you need for a Blondie:

Cream soda
Vanilla syrup
Coffee Ice Cream
Whipped Cream

What you do:
- Mix the syrup with a little whipped cream in the bottom of each glass. Add in the ice cream, and then slowly pour in the cold soda, allowing the bubbles to create the signature, sweet, frothy foam.

Baking today with 22°...

It is really hot. Not a good day for baking... But a good way to cope with it is... an old fashion ice cream soda! Have you ever tried a Blondie? It's so good... No calories at all! I will share the recipe later (my kids are waiting for it, too)...

Just when I was feeling so content with my watermelons...

My dear friend Lady D sent me this picture of a carving festival... Enjoy it!

Food inspiring food...

This watermelon is a coconut cake with pineapple filling. It was baked in the Barbie pan, and turned upside down... It was really good!

Smile!

I thought Millaray would love this, and she certainly did. I found the idea in this tutorial. It was just a piece of cake!

Happy 15th Birthday Dear Millaray!!!

How well I remember you with your favourite toy: a watermelon!

You use to roll around on top of a watermelon. It was such a sight! And after playing with it for quite a while, the whole adventure... you got to eat it! Perfect balance...
Time has passed, but still I get excited when I see watermelons around... It means the sun is out and it's time to play... Look at what somebody did with this one, just for fun...
